Applications: MOLCEL® METH is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations as a thickening, suspending, binding and stabilizing excipient. In tablets and capsules, it supports granulation, improves consistency and can help control drug release. In oral liquids, it increases viscosity and helps keep insoluble ingredients uniformly dispersed. As a bulk-forming laxative, methyl cellulose absorbs water in the intestine to increase stool bulk and support gentle relief from occasional constipation.

1 Appearance It occurs as a white, yellowish-white or greyish-white powder or granules.

(A) The powdered material aggregates on the surface.
(B) A clear or slightly turbid solution occurs with its thickness dependent on the viscosity grade.
(C) A red colour develops and does not change to purple within 100 min.
(D) A coherent, clear film forms on the glass slide.
(E) The flocculation temperature is higher than 50 °C.
3 Solubility It is practically insoluble in hot water, in acetone, in anhydrous ethanol and in toluene. It dissolves in cold water giving a colloidal solution.
4 Appearance of solution The solution is not more opalescent than reference suspension III and not more intensely coloured than reference solution Y6.
5 PH Between 5.0 to 8.0.
6 Loss on drying Not more than 5.0%.
7 Sulfated ash Not more than 1.5%.
8 Assay Not less than 26.0% and not more than 33.0% of methoxy groups -OCH3 (dried substance).

MOLCEL® METH is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum Packing with double PE Liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. It is preserved in tight containers.
